Whatever happens to Les Miles won't happen until the end of the regular season. Until then, we can still call him the LSU head coach.

After 11 years of churning out more wins in Baton Rouge than all but one coach, the last month has encompassed a three-game losing streak. Suddenly, a team once considered a national contender is on the cusp of firing its head coach.

But if the school elects to go that way, the decision will "most likely" come sometime after the Tigers close out the season against Texas A&M, according to ESPN's Joe Schad.

On Monday, a high-ranking source involved in the decision told Schad there's "a very good possibility" that LSU will buy out Miles' contract - and boosters have reportedly already agreed to pay the $15-million buyout.

Miles is under contract through 2019. His buyout would decrease to $12.9 million if he was fired after Jan. 1.

Although a three-loss coach would be considered successful most anywhere else in the country, that's failure in the SEC. The Tigers are losers of their last three, the first time that has happened since 1999.

They also gave up at least 30 points in each of those contests, which hasn't happened since 1948.

Regardless of Miles' future at LSU, his past is cemented in the history books. He's won a national championship and two SEC championships and averaged 10 wins per season while producing 64 NFL draft choices.

He and his staff, meanwhile, also have the No. 1 class in the 2016 ESPN recruiting ranking, so even if he's fired, LSU will reap the benefits of his polarizing presence long after he's gone.
