Burrows leaves Canucks for personal matter, may not play Monday

Alex Burrows returned to Vancouver on Sunday morning to attend to personal matters, and his status for the rest of the Canucks' road trip is uncertain.

It's unclear what the issue is and how long it will keep Burrows from rejoining the club, but Canucks head coach Willie Desjardins assured reporters that it's nothing negative.

"It's a personal reason. He went back, and it's a good thing, so he's just back with his family," Desjardins said.

The head coach didn't rule out the possibility that Burrows could fly back in time to play against the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre on Monday night, but acknowledged the travel logistics wouldn't be ideal.

The Canucks are in the midst of a seven-game road trip that concludes Wednesday against the Winnipeg Jets.

Vancouver rookie Hunter Shinkaruk could draw in if Burrrows is unable to rejoin the team on the trip, Desjardins said.
