The New Orleans Saints have signed quarterback Matt Flynn.

The veteran passer announced the move on his Twitter account.

The move comes as quarterback Luke McCown gets set to undergo back surgery Tuesday, which will bring an end to his 2015 season, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Flynn will compete with rookie Garrett Grayson for the right to backup Drew Brees.

The former seventh-round pick spent the majority of his eight NFL seasons with the Green Bay Packers, but had brief stints with the Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders.

The Saints also signed 32-year-old linebacker James Anderson.
