VIDEO: Struggling Kobe airballs 2 wide-open looks

Kobe Bryant's latest bid for a comeback campaign has - in his own words - freaking sucked.

The 37-year-old Bryant is averaging 15.8 points per game in his 20th season while shooting 32.3 percent from the field and 20.6 percent from deep. His Los Angeles Lakers are winless in four attempts, and Bryant struggled once again in their latest loss to the Denver Nuggets.

Bryant shot 4-of-11 from the floor and hoisted up two miserable airballs on a pair of wide-open looks from beyond the arc.

Anyone can shoot an airball. Even Stephen Curry misses the basket every now and then. But it's hardly a good sign when Bryant is drawing nothing but air on open looks, especially given the context of his poor play.

When asked about the misses, Bryant cited rust from sitting on the bench.

"(Been) sitting for 30 minutes, man," he explained to ESPN's Baxter Holmes. "Coming into the game a little tight."

Bryant's struggles, however, haven't been limited to playing after extended periods of rest. He just looks like a shell of himself - the confidence is wavering, his legs look heavy, he rarely drives to the basket, and his outside shooting is all over the place. Whether it's injuries or age, the game seems to have finally caught up with him.

Still, his contemporaries and coaches are holding out hope. LeBron James brushed aside Bryant's self-critique, saying that he doesn't suck, and head coach Byron Scott said Tuesday that "Kobe is the last person that I worry about."

But as of right now, there's no sugarcoating his performance, and there's a real concern that the old Bryant - the five-time champion, the legendary shot-maker - might never return.
