Edinson Volquez tried to help his own cause with more than just his right arm.
The Kansas City Royals Game 5 starter ripped a single to right field off New York Mets hurler Matt Harvey in the third inning Sunday. The hit left a big smile on the Dominican's face.

With the knock, Volquez became the first American League pitcher to record a hit in the World Series since Cliff Lee doubled as a member of the Texas Rangers in Game 1 of the 2010 Fall Classic.
The 32-year-old also became the first Royals pitcher to ever get a playoff hit.
Volquez owned a career .083/.106/.101 hitting line with one home run and eight RBIs entering Sunday.
