Manziel questioned by police after argument with girlfriend, admitted to drinking

Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel was questioned by police Monday for his involvement in a domestic argument and admitted to drinking earlier in the day, according to a police report obtained by WEWS News in Cleveland.

The report indicates that police were contacted when a witness saw Manziel's vehicle pass her at high speeds using the shoulder of the road. The couple was seen arguing and Manziel's girlfriend Colleen Crowley apparently attempted to leave the vehicle while it was still on the road. The couple stopped their car in an Ohio neighborhood.

When stopped by police, Manziel and Crowley acknowledged they had been arguing. Manziel told police the couple had been drinking earlier in the day, but stated he had only consumed two drinks.

Crowley told police that the quarterback pressed her head into a window and police found an abrasion on her arm, believed to be a result of Manziel trying to keep her in the vehicle while it was still moving.

Officers determined Manziel was not intoxicated enough to be charged, and because Crowley did not want to press charges, the couple was able to leave in his car.

The Browns released a statement saying the franchise was "aware of the situation" and "expressed our concerns to Johnny directly."

"Those conversations will remain private," the statement continues. "And we will refrain from further comment at this time."

A Browns spokesperson confirmed Manziel would be active for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos, ESPN's Tony Grossi reports.

The former Heisman Trophy winner spent 10 weeks of the offseason in rehab for an undisclosed issue.

Manziel gave his account of the incident on Twitter:

Crowley posted a note on Instagram thanking witnesses for helping and saying the two were just arguing.
