Valencia defeats Lyon, retains 2nd-place spot in Group H
Valencia winger Sofiane Feghouli scored the lone goal at the Stade de Gerland to give Los Che a 1-0 win over French side Lyon in Group H Champions League action Tuesday.
Feghouli opened the scoring in the first half after making a bursting run from the center of midfield on a counter-attack. His teammate, Pablo Piatti, sprinted down the left wing with the ball at his feet and Feghouli motioned for the ball.
Piatti delivered a cut-in pass, teeing up the shot for his teammate to smack home with power. It was well-earned, as Feghouli had hit the post a number of times in the first half.

Lyon created several opportunities, but Valencia's defenders held firm. Yellow cards to Enzo Perez and Javi Fuego limited the physicality of Valencia's midfield resolve, and Alexandre Lacazette used that to his advantage, but couldn't find an end product to celebrate.
The final few minutes looked like a Lyon shooting gallery, with Valencia's defenders blocking shot after shot. A pair of late saves by goalkeeper Jaume Domenech saved Valencia's blushes, too, as Los Che held firm to take all three points away from home.
With the win, Valencia retains its second-place spot in Group H, with Zenit St. Petersburg also picking up a 2-1 win over Gent for three more points to top this four-team table.
