VIDEO: Sebastian Giovinco (kind of) scores 20th goal, but has credit stolen instead
Fans of Major League Soccer, take a moment and watch what might have been a candidate for goal of the year, robbed away by a lock of hair.
Toronto FC forward Sebastian Giovinco thought he scored his 20th goal of the season, and in spectacular fashion, swinging in a corner and then scoring immediately afterward against the Chicago Fire. Well, sort of.
Giovinco's corner kick found the head of Damien Perquis, but the ball rebounded back to the "Atomic Ant," who stepped forward and curled a sweet strike with the outside of his foot.
The strike looked perfect, but at the far end of the hit, Jonathan Osorio licked the ball with a lock of his hair on a glancing header, securing (and stealing) the goal.
Giovinco won't mind, of course, as the goal gave the Reds an equalizer, but now he will have to keep waiting for goal No. 20. Something tells us it won't be too long, though.
Still, Osorio hopes the league will reverse the decision.
Osorio on his goal: "I hope @MLS reviews it." #TFCLive
