Flames' Brodie week to week after breaking bone in hand
Calgary Flames defenseman T.J. Brodie will be out of action for a few weeks after suffering a broken bone in his hand, general manager Brad Treliving announced Wednesday.
Brodie won't have surgery, and could miss anywhere from three-to-six weeks. The injury occurred Monday, after he was hit by a shot in the third period of Calgary's preseason game against the Edmonton Oilers.
"It was a little sore but we didn't know for sure until yesterday," Brodie said. "I'm able to stay on the ice, skate, and keep the conditioning up."
"That's definitely a positive. For what it is, it's the best outcome." - Brodie, who won't require surgery.

While the Flames are deep on defense with captain Mark Giordano and offseason acquisition Dougie Hamilton, Brodie's loss is big after the 25-year-old enjoyed a breakout season in 2014-15.
Brodie, drafted 114th overall by Calgary in 2008, set career highs in goals (11), assists (30), points (41), plus-minus (plus-15), shots on goal (133), power-play goals (three), power-play points (nine), and time on ice per game (25:12).
The Flames signed Brodie to a five-year extension worth a reported $23.25 million last October.
