Stars' Benn, Hemsky expected to be ready for season opener after hip surgeries

A pair of Dallas Stars forwards took to the ice Monday for the first time since undergoing respective hip surgeries.

Since hips don't lie, Jamie Benn and Ales Hemsky are both expected to be ready for the Dallas Stars' regular season opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Oct. 8 following successful recoveries.

"If we started our season tomorrow, I would be in there," Benn said, according to Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News. "We made a plan at the start of the summer, and I've been following that plan, and we're where we want to be right now. My legs feel pretty good; I don't get too sore after these skates, and I've done four pretty good days in a row."

Benn is the NHL's reigning Art Ross Trophy winner after recording 35 goals and 87 points in 82 games last season. Hemsky, on the other hand, struggled in his first season with the team, with only 11 goals and 21 assists in 76 games.
