Bastian Schweinsteiger's first club has ended confusion over the player's transfer fee.

Schweinsteiger joined Manchester United from Bayern Munich this summer, and it was thought that the Red Devils had paid close to €20 million for the German international.

But the fee, as disclosed by fifth-tier club TSV 1860 Rosenheim, actually "adds up to €9 million," it said in a statement on its website, courtesy of ESPNFC.

Schweinsteiger played with Rosenheim as a youth until 1998. Under FIFA's "solidarity mechanism," the Bayernliga Sud outfit is entitled to a chunk of any subsequent transfer fee. As a result, the club not only calculated its windfall - a total of €38,000 over two years - but also the total amount that United paid.

"We are delighted about Bastian's incredible career and also that we profit from it financially as his first club," the statement read.

The 31-year-old has appeared in six matches for United so far, but only two as a starter.
