Report: Suns reach agreements with Cory Jefferson, Henry Sims
The Phoenix Suns are set to add a pair of bigs to their training camp roster.
As reported by Paul Coro of AZ Central, the Suns reached agreements with power forwards Cory Jefferson and Henry Sims. Coro didn't provide details of the contracts.
The 24-year-old Jefferson played in 50 games with the Brooklyn Nets last season but rarely saw the floor, averaging 3.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. Jefferson is fairly athletic for his 6-foot-9 frame, but he's a woeful shooter.
Sims, meanwhile, played 73 games with the Philadelphia 76ers last season. The 25-year-old averaged eight points and 4.9 rebounds in 24.6 minutes per game, flashing a decent touch from mid-range, where he shot a respectable 42.5 percent on 233 attempts.
The Suns could use help in the frontcourt as they continue to operate with the uncertainty of Markieff Morris's situation hanging over their heads. Morris is extremely unhappy with the Suns, vowing to not suit up for them this season.
Going from Morris to either Sims or Jefferson would be a major downgrade, but the team's hands are tied.
