Minnesota Wild assistant coach Darryl Sydor voluntarily entered the NHL/NHL Players' Association Substance Abuse/Behavioral Health Program on Sunday, according to Michael Russo of the Star Tribune.

Sydor checked himself into the treatment center in Malibu, Calif., where he will spend at least 30 days.

"He's hurt, he's upset, he's embarrassed by his actions, and his family is, too," Sydor's attorney Ryan Pacyga said Monday. "Right now, it's about Darryl taking care of himself and really getting his arms around this."

The 43-year-old was arrested Thursday after he was pulled over when driving his 12-year-old son to a hockey game. He had a blood alcohol level of .30, nearly four times the legal limit.

Sydor will have an arraignment Oct. 12 where he could be sentenced to as long as a year in jail.
