Mavericks officially add Samuel Dalembert

In the wake of losing out on DeAndre Jordan, the Dallas Mavericks continued to add every free-agent center under the sun Thursday, announcing the signing of Samuel Dalembert.
The deal is reportedly a one-year deal at the veteran minimum, which is $1.5 million for someone with Dalembert's service time.
The Mavericks have also traded for Zaza Pachulia, signed Mo Ndour, Jeremy Evans, and Salah Mejri to guaranteed deals, and have Brandon Ashley, Dwight Powell, Jamil Wilson, and Jarrid Famous on non-guaranteed contracts to compete for frontcourt spots. Some of them won't make the team or could see time on the wing, but for the most part the Mavs seem to be making up for the loss in star power with volume, flexibility, and potential upside.
Dalembert doesn't bring a ton of upside, but he does bring familiarity with the team, plenty of experience, and some semblance of rim protection. The 34-year-old appeared in 80 games for Dallas in 2013-14 and remained moderately useful for the New York Knicks in 32 games last season.
Over 886 career games with six teams, Dalembert has averaged 7.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks while shooting 52.1 percent, numbers that have declined to 5.9, 6.3, and 1.2, respectively, over the last two years.
