Utah's Kyle Whittingham on reinstating Dominique Hatfield: It's 'unlikely'

Ex-Utah cornerback Dominique Hatfield no longer faces charges for aggravated robbery and theft, but his return to the Utes' lineup remains "unlikely," head coach Kyle Whittingham told reporters Friday.

Hatfield was dismissed from the program earlier in the month after he was arrested for allegedly flashing a knife at an individual who had met up with him to purchase an Xbox.

The charges against Hatfield were dropped roughly two weeks later, which the prosecuting attorney attributed to new evidence that raised doubts about the allegations against the junior cornerback.

But Whittingham said Hatfield's dismissal from the team wasn't reversed because "he's got some other issues he's working through - unrelated to those charges," according to Dirk Facer of the Desert News.

"No change. He's dismissed," Whittingham said of Hatfield. "He's working through some things and he's got through part of it, but right now there's no change."
