Dillashaw runs roughshod over Barao to retain title at UFC on FOX 16
The king stayed the king in Chicago on Saturday night.
T.J. Dillashaw retained the UFC bantamweight title in the main event of UFC on FOX 16, completely outclassing Renan Barao for three-plus rounds en route to a fourth-round TKO victory.
Dillashaw was too technical, too fast, and downright too good for Barao, using his speed and superior footwork to pick "The Baron" apart on the feet, demolishing him with crisp combinations over and over again.
Completely gassed and thoroughly battered, Barao was saved by the bell to close the third round, but wasn't able to survive Dillashaw's relentless onslaught to start the fourth, falling at 0:35 of the penultimate stanza.
The loss sends Barao back to the drawing board, and he likely won't sniff the title for as long as it's around Dillashaw's waist.
As for Dillashaw, there's a certain former 135-pound kingpin who is eyeing a return to the Octagon before the end of the year - a man who never technically lost his bantamweight crown.
I can’t really put into words how badly I want to see T.J. Dillashaw vs. Dominick Cruz.
