Report: Pelicans, Kendrick Perkins finalizing 1-year, veteran minimum deal

The New Orleans Pelicans are set to add some depth to their frontcourt as they finalize a one-year deal with Kendrick Perkins for the veteran's minimum, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
The 30-year-old center was traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Utah Jazz days before the trade deadline, with the Jazz waiving him shortly thereafter.
He finished his 2014-15 campaign with the Cleveland Cavaliers, averaging 2.6 points and 2.4 rebounds in 17 games. Perkins played just eight minutes during the Cavaliers' postseason run, with three of those minutes coming in the NBA Finals.
The Houston Rockets and New York Knicks had also been linked to the 12-year pro.
Perkins will likely compete for minutes in the second unit with newly re-signed Alexis Ajinca behind starter Omer Asik.
