Missouri defensive tackle Harold Brantley's recovery from a serious car wreck in June will not involve any time on the field.
Head coach Gary Pinkel told reporters during SEC Media Days on Wednesday that Brantley will miss the 2015 season after sustaining serious injuries when his car struck the guardrail and overturned.
However, the good news is that the head coach believes Brantley can make a full recovery.
"He's very lucky to be alive," said Pinkel of the defensive tackle, who wasn't wearing a seat belt at the time.
Brantley had surgery on a fracture to his left tibia, and sustained multiple rib fractures and some damage to the ligaments in his left knee that will require additional surgery.
He was released from the hospital on June 30.
