Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and his stepfather, Lindsey Miller, gave conflicting accounts of the altercation between the two during a court hearing Friday, the end result of which was a protective order against Tunsil being dismissed.

Tunsil was arrested on a domestic violence charge in June for allegedly assaulting Miller, allegedly in defense of his mother.

The highly-touted offensive lineman's first public comments about the incident came Friday in a Lafayette County courtroom.

According to Rivals, Miller, who served as his own counsel, said he expressed his objection with Tunsil interacting with agents to the player's mother, who then went outside and told Tunsil that Miller had called her "stupid." Miller claims he tried to shake Tunsil's hand, but the player pushed him and struck him multiple times. Miller says the attack had him "almost blacking out," and called the hits a series of "deadly blows."

Tunsil claims he witnessed Miller shoving his mother into a chair, and that he was then pursued by Miller, who poked him in the chest and told him to tell his mother to "get her things out." He says the fight with Miller began after that.

The two sides are due back in court on Aug. 3 for arraignment on the domestic violence charges.
