Reds GM has no interest in dealing Todd Frazier: 'I wouldn't trade him'

With the Cincinnati Reds expected to be sellers at the deadline, general manager Walt Jocketty emphatically stated that at least one of his All-Stars will remain in the Queen City.

Third baseman Todd Frazier is in the midst of a career year and isn't going anywhere, despite the Reds sitting five games under .500 and the 29-year-old being the Red who would arguably bring the biggest return.

"No, I wouldn't trade him," Jocketty told Jon Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer on Thursday. "I think all that talk is coming from the New York media."

Frazier ranks second in the majors with 25 home runs while leading the team with 54 RBIs to go with a .283 average. The five-year veteran is on the books for a reasonable $7.5 million in 2016 and is arbitration eligible in 2017, so there's no surprise as to why Jocketty wouldn't want to part ways.

While Frazier is safe, impending free-agent pitchers Johnny Cueto and Mike Leake have garnered plenty of attention. Hard-throwing closer Aroldis Chapman and veteran outfielder Marlon Byrd are also trade candidates, though Jocketty acknowledged that there's been little talk on the trade front to date.

"It's pretty quiet," Jocketty said. "We're not really engaged in any talks yet."
