The stepfather of Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil said he and Tunsil's mother were arguing over Tunsil's "riding around with football agents" at the time of the incident that led to the player's arrest, according to a police report obtained by The Clarion-Ledger.

Tunsil was arrested on charges of domestic violence after allegedly assaulting his stepfather, Lindsey Miller, in defense of his mother, Desiree Tunsil.

According to the police report, Miller told Lafayette County (Miss.) Sheriff's Department deputy Rudy Howell that "(Laremy) Tunsil and the agents" left in a yellow convertible.

Miller alleges that in the midst of the argument, he extended his hand to give Laremy a handshake, but Laremy shoved him against a wall and started hitting him. The report goes on to say that four other men were in the home and pulled Laremy off Miller.

Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze released a statement to The Clarion-Ledger in response to the report, noting that meeting with an agent is itself not an NCAA violation.

"We are aware that Laremy and his family have met with potential agents, which is within his NCAA rights as a student-athlete," Freeze said. "Regarding the altercation, we will continue to gather facts and cooperate with the proper authorities."

Laremy and his stepfather are scheduled to appear in court July 14, officials from the Lafayette County (Miss.) Sheriff's Department told Chris Low of ESPN.

The 6-foot-5, 305-pound offensive lineman is considered one of the top collegiate offensive linemen in the country and is projected as a top-five selection in the 2016 NFL Draft.
