Report: Cavaliers interested in Mike Dunleavy, who is likely to re-sign with Bulls

The Cleveland Cavaliers are hoping to surround LeBron James with yet another dead-eye shooter.

The Cavaliers are interested in shooting guard Mike Dunleavy, reports Marc Stein of ESPN. However, Stein also notes that Dunleavy is likely to re-sign with the Chicago Bulls.

Dunleavy proclaimed after the season that he "would love to be back" with the Bulls, with whom he spent his past two seasons as the starting small forward. Chicago holds Dunleavy's Early Bird Rights and will likely pay to retain his services.

Still, should the Bulls find themselves capped out after negotiations with Jimmy Butler, Dunleavy could find himself on the open market. In that case, the Cavaliers could swoop in with a veteran's minimum or the taxpayer mid-level exception and hope to sell Dunleavy on the chance to win a ring.

The 34-year-old remains rather serviceable, even in the twilight of his career. He averaged 9.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 29.3 minutes per game while shooting 40.7 percent from deep last season.
