Uruguay assistant claims Chile's Jara taunted Cavani over father's prison sentence

Gonzalo Jara's now-infamous encounter with Edinson Cavani continues to grow more jarring.

The Chilean defender, who was suspended for the remainder of the Copa America after cameras caught him sticking his fingers into Cavani's backside - and eliciting a reaction that got the striker sent off - in their quarterfinal match last week, was apparently responsible for more than just the disturbing physical intrusion.

Uruguay assistant manager Mario Rebollo claims that Jara also made an inflammatory comment about Luis Cavani, the striker's father who is facing prison time after being involved in an accident that killed a teenage motorcyclist the day before the match.

"Not only did Jara touch Cavani as we saw in the pictures, but he also said something about what had happened the previous day," Rebollo told Uruguay's Radio Hora 25, as translated by FOX Soccer.

"He said that Cavani's father was going to get 20 years (in prison)."
