Carmelo Anthony says there's 'no drama,' calls Porzingis 'a steal'
Carmelo Anthony has broken his silence, via Instagram.
As rumors swirl that Anthony was unhappy with the draft-night moves of his New York Knicks - namely the selection of Kristaps Porzingis and the trading of Tim Hardaway, Jr. - the eight-time All-Star cleared the air in a series of Instagram replies to fans.
With many taking exception to his reported complaints and commenting about it on an Instagram photo Anthony posted of him and Hardaway, Jr., Melo responded:
According to the New York Daily News' Frank Isola, a team source said Anthony complained about how long the Knicks will have to wait for Porzingis, who is seen as somewhat of a project compared to other, more NBA-ready prospects.
He didn't voice any of those concerns in his interactions with online fans, however, instead praised the selection of Porzingis at No. 4 as a steal.
On one hand, it's nice to see the Knicks' franchise player trying to squash yet another negative report linked to his name rather than staying quiet. On the other hand, it's tough to believe there isn't at least some merit to the reports, as the 31-year-old watches his prime fade in the rearview mirror while his team remains miles away from contention.
