Now we know why George Karl reportedly wants to get rid of DeMarcus Cousins: so he can make way for JaVale McGee.
The Sacramento Kings are "showing strong interest" in McGee, who played under Karl with the Denver Nuggets, reports Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports.
All jokes aside, no rational decision maker would swap Cousins for McGee. If anything, McGee is low-cost flier. After being waived by the Philadelphia 76ers in March, McGee remained unsigned throughout the rest of the season.
Under Karl, McGee posted solid averages of 10.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.1 rebounds in 21.2 minutes. McGee has never been much of a cerebral player, but he was a decent shot blocker who could run the floor and finish lobs around the hoop.
The 27-year-old McGee would presumably come cheap, but in addition to character shortcomings, McGee has appeared in just 28 games over the past two seasons owing to a fracture in his left tibia.
