Broncos deny trying to trade Peyton Manning to Texans

It's NFL rumor season and anything, no matter how absurd, involving Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning will get some attention.

After Benjamin Albright of 94.1 FM in Denver reported that the Broncos attempted to trade Manning to the Houston Texans in the offseason, the team responded immediately, stating: "Here's one for the record - The speculation is false, and your report is inaccurate."

Manning's agent, Tom Condon, told ProFootballTalk, "Neither the Texans, the Broncos, or Peyton Manning ever talked to me about a trade anywhere."

Albright cited two "unrelated official sources" in his report, saying that some within the Broncos organization wanted to move on from Manning in order to give Brock Osweiler the reins.

Denver's talks with Houston occurred before Manning signed a renegotiated contract with the Broncos that includes a no-trade clause, Albright said, leading some to speculate that the 14-time Pro Bowler wanted assurance that he won't be moved.
