Kings' Divac on potentially trading Cousins: 'If it's Michael Jordan, I'll think about it'

Sacramento Kings vice president Vlade Divac has made it crystal clear that All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins is not going anywhere.

He will, however, entertain the idea of a trade if a legendary Chicago Bulls figure decides to turn back the clock and come out of retirement.

"Well, if it's Michael Jordan there, I'll think about it," Divac told NBA.com's David Aldridge with a laugh.

It may not even take a younger version of His Airness to entice Divac, as Jordan, who's 52 years old, recently said that he could defeat a number of his Charlotte Hornets players in 1-on-1.

Sacramento has been a bottom-feeder in the Western Conference every year since Cousins was selected fifth overall in the 2010 NBA Draft, with the team failing to crack the 30-win mark in each of his five seasons.

Divac believes Cousins, who averaged career highs of 24.1 points and 12.7 rebounds in 2014-15, needs to become the type of leader who elevates the play of those around him.

"Well, I think he just has to be a leader, make sure that he makes everybody better on the floor," Divac said. "Everything else, I think he's right on target. He's just so powerful, can dominate in the low post. He can play outside. He can play sometimes four, sometimes five.

"He's a very smart basketball player. He has very great potential."

Boogie hasn't always been a happy camper during his tenure in Sactown, with the firing of Mike Malone - who has reportedly been brought on as the new head coach of the Denver Nuggets - leaving a particularly bad aftertaste.

Perhaps selecting Kentucky Wildcats prospect Willie Cauley-Stein, a defensive big Cousins would reportedly love to play alongside, with the sixth pick in the 2015 NBA Draft will put a smile on his face.

If all else fails, Divac can always send Boogie packing in a trade for Jordan and start anew with some fresh, albeit old, talent.
