Inbee Park wants win over compatriot Sei Young Kim at KPMG Championship

At this week's KPMG Championship, South Korea's Inbee Park isn't solely focused on capturing her third successive KPMG title.

Somewhat surprisingly, she's instead fixed on ceasing another streak still in its infancy - losing for a third time to fellow Seoul local Sei Young Kim, reports Randall Mell of the Golf Channel.

"My history with her is not great," Park said of Kim.

Park recalled losing to the LPGA Tour rookie on two occasions, including via playoff in April's at the Lotte Championship. She believes Kim contains a mental advantage whenever they're in the running together.

"She probably feels like, 'I win when I play with Inbee,' because it's twice that she has won, and I played with her both times," Park said. "There is always a first time. I’ve never won in front of Sei Young."

The 22-year-old Kim is quickly gaining notoriety for disrupting leaderboards, while also being recognized by others, including World Golf Hall of Famer Karrie Webb earlier this week.

"She played unbelievably well,” Webb said. "It was impressive to watch pretty much how flawless it was, except for a couple of shots."

Park heads into Sunday's final round two strokes up on Kim at 14-under, so she has a good chance to win the title, while simultaneously halting a string of losses to her South Korean counterpart.
