Gastelum runs roughshod over Marquardt
Poor Nate Marquardt.
Once one of the finest middleweights in the world, Marquardt continued his downward spiral, rudely escorted from relevancy by a younger, stronger Kelvin Gastelum.
Gastelum completely decimated Marquardt, punishing the former King of Pancrase with beautiful, blistering combinations and heavy ground-and-pound. The 23-year-old never removed his foot from the gas pedal, unleashing an absolute beating for two rounds while Marquardt desperately tried to keep his consciousness.
Not wanting to see their fighter endure further damage, Marquardt's corner mercifully put an end to the bout between the second and third round.
Great call by Wittman to stop the fight. Marquardt had nothing to offer, he wasn't going to come back, no shame. #UFC188

Just a spectacular performance from Gastelum, who will likely look to move back down to welterweight for his next bout.
