Overview

Chlapik's 33 goals and 75 points set franchise records for the QMJHL's Charlottetown Islanders.

He tied Shawinigan Cataractes winger Dennis Yan for the highest goal total among QMJHL rookies in 2014-15.

Chlapik models his game after David Krejci, and the 6-foot-1, 196-pound center shares the Boston Bruins forward's penchant for two-way play.

He grew up idolizing another Czech player, goaltender Tomas Vokoun, but the prospect was convinced by his father to be a forward.

What the Scouts Are Saying

"Filip is a very good skater with good vision and puck skills," NHL Central Scouting director Dan Marr said.

"He always seems to be in the right position on the ice both with and without the puck. He can jump on loose pucks and transition quickly. A good combination of size, skating and hockey sense."

His general manager at the junior level believes he possesses a combination of skill and intelligence.

"What I liked about Filip in particular was that he's got a high skill level but also a high hockey IQ, and that's a good combination to have," said Charlottetown Islanders GM Grant Sonier.
