Aleix Vidal was booming with excitement during his first meeting with the media as a member of the European champions.

The former Sevilla player, who signed a five-year contract, described his move to Barcelona as a dream and says the move ranks with some of life's most monumental moments.

“Apart from the day my daughter was born, this is the most special day of my life,” Vidal told reporters.

Although his debut with the Catalans won't be until Jan. 2016, when the team's transfer ban will be lifted, passing up an opportunity to join Barca was never an option for Vidal.

"That's not a problem" he said. "I didn't think twice about accepting Barca's offer. I can use this time to improve specific aspects of my game and learn new things. And Barca is the best place in the world to learn."

Vidal could be asked to ditch his usual role as an attacking midfielder and take up a more defensive role, considering the offensive weapons in the Barcelona attack, and the possible loss of Dani Alves this summer.

"I'm not likely to be needed up front," he added. "The three best players in the world are playing there."
