Djokovic tops Murray, will meet Wawrinka in French Open final
Novak Djokovic will have a chance to complete the career Grand Slam after topping No. 5 Andy Murray in five sets in their semifinal at the French Open on Saturday.
The match carried over from Friday after it was suspended in the fourth set due to darkness and an incoming storm. Djokovic won the first two sets by identical scores of 6-3, but Murray captured the third set 7-5 before play was halted with the fourth set tied 3-3.
Upon resumption of the match Saturday, Murray took the fourth set 7-5 to force a decisive fifth set. But the final set was all Djokovic, as the top seed cruised to a 6-1 victory, earning a spot in Sunday's final against No. 8 Stan Wawrinka.
''No different from any other match that we played against each other. It's always a thriller, always a marathon,'' Djokovic said. ''Wasn't a physically easy match, that's for sure, but I think I will be fine for the finals. Whatever I have left in me I will put out on the court tomorrow, and hopefully it can be enough.''
With previous wins at the Australian Open, U.S. Open and Wimbledon, Djokovic has another chance to win the French Open for the first time and become the eighth man to win all four majors.
Djokovic improved his winning streak to 28 matches and is now 16-0 on clay this season. For Murray, it was his first loss on clay this season, dropping his record to 15-1 on the surface.
