The Houston Astros used their third pick Monday evening, the 37th overall pick in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft, to scoop up the progeny of former All-Star outfielder Mike Cameron.
With the first pick in the inaugural Competitive Balance round, the Astros gobbled up center fielder Daz Cameron, the prodigy recently selected as Georgia's Gatorade Player of the Year following a strong performance for Eagle's Landing Christian Academy.
Touted as a potential No. 1 pick, Cameron reportedly fell Monday evening due to concerns over his signability. After failing to sign their top pick from the 2014 draft, though, the Astros entered this year's draft with a massive $17.2-million bonus pool that should give Houston ample ammunition to lure Cameron away from his commitment to Florida State.
