No. 8 Stan Wawrinka defeated No. 14 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-3, 6-7, 7-6, 6-4

Notes: Under the threat of a weather watch, Wawrinka won the first set 6-3 over the hometown favorite Tsonga. ... Tsonga did not break until the second set when he tied it up at 4-4, seemingly finding his legs and applying more pressure. ... The two men entered a tiebreaker to decide the outcome of the second set, with Tsonga rallying to win it 6-1, and the set 7-6. ... The third set saw back-and-forth action, with each player giving up very little to their opponent. They played to a 4-4 deadlock, and eventually proceeded to a second straight tiebreaker, with Wawrinka taking it. ... Tsonga continuously struggled on break points Friday, going just 1 for 17. ... The match lasted a lengthy three hours and 46 minutes. ... Wawrinka's previous best result at Roland Garros was a quarterfinal appearance in 2013. ...
