Truex Jr. winless after leading most laps in 3 straight races

For the third NASCAR Sprint Cup race in a row, Martin Truex Jr. has led the most laps. And for the third race in a row, he has failed to get to Victory Lane.

Truex Jr. finished sixth in Sunday's FedEx 400 at Dover International Speedway, the track where he won his first career Sprint Cup Series race, after he led a race-high 131 laps.

The No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Chevrolet led the race three times, but couldn't hold off the late pushes from Kevin Harvick and from eventual winner Jimmie Johnson.

Even though Truex Jr. had one of the strongest, and fastest, cars all weekend, he said the car was never really where his team wanted it.

"We had a good car today, but it never was right. We were never right yesterday (Saturday) in practice," he told FOXSports after the race. "We made some changes today (Sunday). We made some gains on it, but never got it where we needed it. Clean air was huge. When we were out front we were OK. It just never turned good enough all day long. Eventually it caught up to us."

At both Charlotte International Speedway and Kansas Speedway, the 34-year-old led the most laps but couldn't pull out a victory.
