Prince Ali bin al-Hussein will attempt to become FIFA president once again when an extraordinary FIFA Congress is held to elect Sepp Blatter's successor at a later date.

Prince Ali's declaration - confirmed by a senior Jordanian football official to the Agence France-Presse - comes after Blatter's stunning announcement that he'll step down from the position he's held since 1998 because of increased accusations of corruption within the world football governing body.

The Jordanian prince, who is the head of his country's football federation, lost his bid to become president during Friday's FIFA Congress when Blatter's 17-year reign was extended after he was re-elected for a fifth term.

"As for new elections, Prince Ali is ready," Sala Sabra, vice-president of the Jordanian football federation said.

Sabra added Prince Ali is also ready to take the reigns of FIFA if the organization needed him to do so immediately.

Despite several top FIFA officials being apprehended by Swiss authorities on corruption charges before Friday's election in Zurich, Prince Ali saw his bid to become president end when he stepped down following a first round of voting ended 133-73 in favour of Blatter.

Prince Ali could have plenty of competitors for the position. Sports betting book William Hill has already released odds for several possible candidates:
