Royals' Yost wants all interleague games to use a DH

After spending the weekend in a National League ballpark, Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost has a suggestion for MLB commissioner Rob Manfred.

"I love the National League rules when National League teams are playing National League teams, but for interleague, I think they should just make it all-DH," Yost said, according to Andy McCulough of the Kansas City Star.

Yost was forced to tinker with his lineup the last two games against the Chicago Cubs as the Royals played their first series this season in a NL ballpark.

Kansas City's typical designated hitter Kendrys Morales was forced to sit Friday and Yost had to pencil him in at first base for the first time this season Sunday in order to get his bat in the lineup.

The 12-year skipper acknowledges NL rules make the manager's job more difficult and six seasons at the helm of the Milwaukee Brewers from 2003-08 gave him a first-hand look at what it's like in each league. While he isn't advocating for a league-wide DH, Yost wouldn't argue with having an extra bat in his lineup when they visit NL teams.

"For me, I loved managing a National League game," Yost said. "Because there's so much more strategy involved. The American League game, I love it, too, because it's easier.

"It's easier to manage the game. I'm not sure they should just throw the DH out in both of those, because the National League game, it's exciting. It's different."
