Colin Kaepernick makes awful self-comparison to Houston floods, quickly apologizes

Ed Szczepanski-USA TODAY Sports

Colin Kaepernick will likely regret his latest attempt at brand promotion.

The San Francisco 49ers' quarterback made light of the Houston floods that - according to the National Weather Service - drew in excess of 57 feet of rain. Two people are dead, with at least 40 people missing, according to USA TODAY.

Kaepernick posted the hashtag "#7tormsComing," a reference to his jersey number.

The 27-year-old also posted a tweet that read "I warned you the #7tormsComing !!! #Houston," linking to an Instagram post that has since been deleted.

Kaepernick then offered an apology:

It's yet another example of where the improper use of social media backfired on an athlete.
