Delos Reyes, Zhikui emerge victorious on UFC Fight Night 66 Fight Pass Prelims

Jon Delos Reyes def. Roldan Sangcha-an via second-round rear-naked choke

If Yao Zhikui and Nolan Ticman put the crowd to sleep, Jon Delos Reyes and Roldan Sangchan-an violently woke them back up.

The opening round was a scramble-fest, with Delos Reyes going for broke with submissions, including multiple rear-naked chokes and an armbar. Sangcha-an was able to escape peril, though, and even unleashed some offense of his own.

Both men started the second stanza by biting down on their mouth guards and throwing bombs. Delos Reyes, now sporting a gigantic, blood-gushing gash above his right eye, floored Sangcha-an with a big right hand and followed it up with some heavy ground and pound.

After a brief separation allowing the doctor to look at Reyes' cut, the fighters went back at it on the mat, with Reyes eventually sinking in a fight-ending rear-naked choke.

Yao Zhikui def. Nolan Ticman via split-decision

Nolan Ticman and Yao Zhikui kicked off the fight pass prelims with 15 minutes of … well, pretty much nothing.

Although Ticman looked like the better athlete for short bursts of the fight, he spent much of the three round affair trying to pop Zhikui with one shot at a time while circling away. Seriously, he circled away for essentially the entire fight while Zhikui doggedly tried to chase him down.

Midway through the third round, Ticman clinched Zhikui along the fence and landed a few knees to the thighs, but it wasn't enough to wash away the visual of him doing the Running Man for three rounds, and the judges gave Zhihui the split-decision victory.

Horrible start to the card.
