Bobby Bowden: Jameis Winston was an embarrassment to Florida State

Legendary Florida State head football coach Bobby Bowden did a lot of good in his time in Tallahassee, making the program relevant at a national level.

Now at the age of 85, Bowden has a tendency to put his foot in his mouth - as he did Tuesday afternoon as a guest on Paul Finebaum's radio show, speaking about former Heisman Trophy-winning Seminoles quarterback Jameis Winston.

"I think it's a consensus among Florida State fans and boosters that he was an embarrassment in a lot of ways to the university," Bowden said, according to Finenbaum.

Here's a look at the full segment in context.

Winston won all but one game in two seasons as a starter in Tallahassee, guiding the Seminoles to back-to-back ACC titles, a national championship and a berth in the inaugural College Football Playoff. His play also helped make him the No. 1 overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft.

There are certainly some who object to Winston's actions during his tenure as a Seminole, but it seems hard to believe there's a consensus against him.
