Floyd Mayweather: I'm open to fighting Manny Pacquiao again in a year
Floyd Mayweather Jr. says he's open to a rematch with Manny Pacquiao after the latter heals from surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in his shoulder.
"I will fight him in a year after his surgery," Mayweather texted ESPN's Stephen A. Smith days after his victory over Pacquiao in the richest, most hyped fight ever.
The fight, which is viewed by most as a colossal disappointment, may have provided better entertainment value had Pacquiao fought at full health.
Instead, Pacquiao fought through a significant shoulder injury - without the aid of an anti-inflammatory shot - and was easily dispatched by the undefeated Mayweather.
Since the conclusion of the bout, it's been revealed that Pacquiao's team neglected to disclose the injury on a form prior to the weigh-in, opening themselves up to a fine or suspension levied by the Nevada Athletic Commission.
