Mavs' Parsons undergoes knee surgery

Dallas Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons underwent arthroscopic surgery Friday to address a cartilage injury on his right knee.

Parsons missed the last six games of the regular season due to the troublesome right knee, and only suited up for Game 1 of the team's first-round series against the Houston Rockets before being shut down for the season.

It was reported earlier this week that Parsons may require microfracture surgery to repair the cartilage, although it's not yet known what specific kind of procedure was performed Friday.

The Mavs announced that a timetable for Parsons' return will be revealed at a later date.

The 26-year-old averaged 15.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and a steal on a True Shooting Percentage of 56.7 in his first season in Dallas after being signed away from the Rockets as a restricted free agent last summer.

Parsons has two years and over $31 million remaining on his contract with Dallas, although he holds a player option for the 2016-17 season and could opt to become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
