Report: La'el Collins sought for questioning in shooting death of pregnant woman
La'el Collins, the former LSU offensive lineman and potential first-round pick in the upcoming NFL draft, is being sought for questioning in the shooting death of a pregnant woman, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
He is not currently a suspect in the case, police told Schefter.
Brittany Mills, 29, was shot and killed on Friday evening, but her unborn baby was removed and is expected to survive, the Baton Rouge Advocate reports.
Collins is believed to be a former boyfriend of Mills, Schefter notes.
Collins' attorney, Jim Boren, provided the following statement to Schefter:
We took the investigation seriously. We've tried to rule him out as a suspect. We're going to provide that information to the police, and ultimately (Collins) will sit down and talk to them. But the timing is poor.
