A record number of pay-per-views will likely be sold for the megafight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, adding to an already impressive total for the two pugilists.
Mayweather and Pacquiao have combined to sell 28 million pay-per-views, generating $1.6 billion in revenue, according to Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports.
Iole notes that SportsInteraction.com has the over/under on pay-per-view buys for Saturday's bout at 3.8 million.
As anticipation and hype build for the showdown, that number may even grow.
Mayweather set the pay-per-view record with 2.48 million buys for his May 2007 bout against Oscar De La Hoya.
