Prokhorov to attend Nets game Wednesday for first time since home opener
Brooklyn Nets majority owner Mikhail Prokhorov has had a lot on his plate this year - including trying to sell the team - so perhaps he can be forgiven for not showing up to any of his team's games.
But now that they're on a late-season tear and have the inside track to nab an Eastern Conference playoff spot, the Nets' absentee owner is ready to make his triumphant return to Barclay's Center, where he's yet to take in a game since the home opener on Nov. 3.
Prokhorov will be in attendance when the Nets host the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, and also plans to attend Friday's game against the Washington Wizards, according to Andy Vasquez of NorthJersey.com.
As an added bonus, Prokhorov is expected to speak to the media before the game, which should give reporters a chance to inquire about his intentions for the franchise (he's insisted he won't forfeit control of the team in any sale) and whether he plans to trim the Nets' league-high salary in the offseason.
Given the way his team has played of late, they may catch him in good spirits. After a mostly dismal first two-thirds of the season, the Nets have won 11 of their last 14 games.
