The Baltimore Ravens have added some competition in their offensive backfield, selecting running back Javorius Allen out of USC in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Coming off a highly productive 1,489-yard junior season in college, Allen should compete with Lorenzo Taliaferro for a rotational role behind returning starter and 2014 breakout star Justin Forsett.

Strengths

  • Good size and timed speed.

  • Cuts suddenly, occasionally leaving defenders grasping at air.
  • Very adept as a receiver. Produced more yards per route run than any back in his draft class. [Pro Football Focus]

Weaknesses

  • Limited athleticism and vision.
  • Doesn't use his size to his advantage. Runs like a smaller player.
  • Poor at running through contact. Too often decelerates ahead of contact and goes down at first touch.
  • Questionable toughness. Very poor when engaging defenders as a pass blocker.
  • Occasional lapses in concentration.
