If only Portland had a baseball team.

The Brooklyn Nets selected Notre Dame small forward Pat Connaughton with the No. 41 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft on Thursday night, and they've reportedly sent him to the Portland Trail Blazers as part of a four-player trade.

A big righty who can hit 97 mph on the radar gun, Connaughton needs to further develop his curveball and changeup, but posted an impressive 2.45 ERA over 14.2 innings at low-A ball last summer.

He also plays basketball.

The Baltimore Orioles prospect is committed to trying his hand at basketball before considering a pro baseball turn, and a strong senior season made that seem possible. Connaughton comes armed with a great outside shot - he hit 42.3 percent of his threes this year and improved in each season with the Irish - and the second-best vertical leap in combine history. In other words, he has the right mix of skill, athleticism, and motor to be an effective NBA role player.

Based on how he moved up draft boards late in the season and in the pre-draft process, it's possible the short-shorts devotee will be a steal at No. 41.
