A promise is a promise.

The Memphis Grizzlies selected LSU power forward Jarell Martin with the No. 25 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft on Thursday night.

Martin, who was First-team All-SEC last season with the Tigers, was believed to have received assurances from the franchise he wouldn't fall past them at No. 25.

Promise or otherwise, now it's Martin's turn to deliver on his own promise. With teams reportedly growing convinced he can play power forward - he has a 6-foot-9.75 wingspan and 8-foot-10.5 standing reach - Martin profiles as a potential stretch-four, despite a poor mark from outside in two college seasons. He can also score inside and clean the offensive glass, but the strength and athleticism he leverages in order to do so won't be advantages against NBA frontcourts.

Martin offers an interesting look into the death of the tweener label. With teams looking for positional versatility and small-forward skills at the four, Martin obviously wasn't hurt by positional ambiguity.
