Juventus' Claudio Marchisio returns to full training

Jesus himself would be proud of this resurrection on Easter Sunday.

Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio returned to training on Sunday, just over a week after it was thought that he suffered a torn ACL - which would have ruled him out of action for the remainder of the season.

Marchisio, 29, suffered a knee injury in training with the Italian national team just over a week ago, and the ailment was initially diagnosed as a tear that would keep him on the sidelines for six-to-eight months.

But after returning to Juventus' training facilities and undergoing tests from team doctors, it was revealed that there was in fact no tear, and that he would only be out for roughly a week.

With the club's focus on the fast-approaching Champions League quarterfinal match against Monaco on April 14, the midfielder took a big step towards achieving full fitness ahead of that contest.

"Linking up for a full session with the first-team squad was Claudio Marchisio, who has overcome the injury he sustained whilst on international duty," Juventus said in a statement.

The Bianconeri are set to play the second leg of their Coppa Italia semifinal against Fiorentina on Tuesday, and while Marchisio could be held out of that match, it would not be a surprise to see him feature in a limited role against Parma next weekend in order to get some match fitness ahead of the aforementioned Champions League contest.
