It's come down to game 82 in the race for eighth in the West.

The New Orleans Pelicans and Oklahoma City Thunder remain tied in the standings after both teams emerged victorious Monday.

The Pelicans dispatched of the Minnesota Timberwolves by a score of 100-88. Anthony Davis, Eric Gordon and Tyreke Evans combined for 68 points as they handily dismissed a injury-riddled Timberwolves squad.

The only notable thing to happen in the game came courtesy of Andrew Wiggins, who crowned Omer Asik.

In Oklahoma City, the Thunder downed the Portland Trail Blazers 101-90 behind yet another superhuman output from Russell Westbrook. He finished with 36 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists in 38 minutes of work, while Enes Kanter added 27 points and 13 rebounds.

Both teams are in action once more Wednesday. The Pelicans host the San Antonio Spurs (who have a shot at second in the West), while the Thunder are on the road against the lottery-bound Timberwolves.

The Pelicans hold the tiebreaker over the Thunder, so the only scenario that sees Oklahoma City clinching a playoff spot is if the Pelicans lose and the Thunder win. However, given their opposition, it's a very plausible scenario.

If they both win Wednesday, the Pelicans have Davis's miraculous game-winner to thank for winning the season series at 3-1.
